We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
Carl Sagan
An American astronomer, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist and author
The mankind is desperately trying to understand the inner workings of the universe while trying to understand ourselves at the same time.
Stars that go supernova are responsible for creating many of the elements of the periodic table, including those that make up the human body.
Nearly all the elements in the human body were made in a star and many have come through several supernovas.
When stars get to the end of their lives, they swell up and fall together again, throwing off their outer layers. If a star is heavy enough, it will explode in a supernova. So most of the material that we're made of comes out of dying stars, or stars that died in explosions. And those stellar explosions continue.
